Top Ways to Save Money in 2016

At the beginning of every year, people around the world work themselves up trying to figure out ways on how to become a better person than they were the year before. It’s okay, we are all guilty. Just check out a few of Inyo’s New Year’s Pool Resolutions.  I, on the other hand, entered the new year with only one resolution in mind: Save More Money.

It is no secret that pool maintenance can be a pretty penny. So, if you’re a family that owns a pool, that is the first place I’d look to save some money.

Just to be clear, I am not recommending getting rid of your pool. That would be absurd and I think your kids would be upset. However, I know for a fact there are things you can do and habits you can form that will help better maintain your swimming pool and save you money at the same time.

Together we can break our bad habits, and form new, beneficial ones that end in one result- saving more money.

how do I prevent above ground pool from becoming misshapen?

Out of Shape Above Ground Pools

I often say, “Above ground pools aren’t Swiss watches.” I usually say this to lower the expectations of pool owners for whom I’m about to install as some think just a little too highly of above grounds. Most of these pools are great and certainly worth the money. When installed correctly and maintained well, they will last many years providing the same enjoyment that other more expensive pools provide. However, they’re far from perfect.

Building above ground swimming pools takes a certain attitude. I am somewhat of a perfectionist so it took me some years before I finally got the concept. And that concept is having a “make-it-work” attitude. Above grounds usually come with poor and vague installation instructions. Just about everything with an above ground is adjustable and the few dimensions given in manuals are painfully inaccurate. Do-it-yourselfers often quickly abandon the numbers that come with their pool’s manual and they should because these numbers are almost always wrong. The numbers will be close, but not exact and we’re not playing horseshoes here. Or are we? (more…)

Jandy AquaPure Error Codes

Whenever you make a high- value purchase, you never expect anything to go wrong with it, at least not right away. As consumers we assume that the more expensive a product is, the better the quality, and therefore the longer the lifespan. The logic seems legit to me. The only downside to a product failing further down the line (as opposed to earlier) is sometimes you can’t find the manual or any matching paper work to help you either with the warranty or to diagnose the issue.

It becomes especially difficult if the product, like the Jandy AquaPure Chlorine Generator, only displays an error code, but not necessarily what the error code means nor solutions to the problem. If you purchased the unit a year ago, it’s quite possible you may have misplaced or thrown out the manual. How will you diagnose the issue then?

Here at INYO Pools we come across this situation a lot. Customers call with error codes, but they are unsure what they actually mean or even how to proceed to fix the issue. With that in mind, we wanted to create an easier way for homeowners to diagnose their Jandy AquaPure. Let’s explore the codes, their meanings, and possible solutions together.

Is your above ground pool ready for severe weather

Above Ground Pools in Severe Weather

With this technologically advanced society we all now live in, it has become easier to predict severe weather. We’ve got local news stations with severe weather centers that have super-duper Doppler 9000s that tell us all when it’s going to rain and how bad that will be. We’ve got national news channels that give us weather updates no matter what politics or current events we are watching.

Then there are the advisories and warnings for certain bad weather and storms with colored status and projected charts that somehow point to everywhere. Here in the southeast United States, everyone from Mississippi to Virginia buys water and batteries only to watch the projected storm turn north and never make landfall. It’s no wonder to me then that every year I get more and more inquiries from new and potential above ground pool owners on the topic of severe weather. (more…)
