What is the benefit of the clear solar blanket over the blue one?

First, the clear solar blanket is thicker than the blue; the clear is 12 mil thick while the blue is 8 mil. Secondly, the clear allows the sun to pass through the blanket thus heating the water better. The blue blanket tends to absorb the heat itself so the blanket gets hot, not the water. Lastly, the clear blanket has a 5 year warranty as opposed to the 3 year warranty for the blue.

No, the solar cover does not come with an overlap. A solar cover is designed to sit on top of the water's surface and fits on the inside perimeter of the pool wall.

My pool loses a lot of heat over night. Will a solar blanket help?

Yes, a solar blanket will help. You will want to place the solar pool cover on the pool whenever the pool is not in use. During the day, the solar pool cover will help prevent evaporation and it also attracts heat from the sun helping to warm the water without the use of a pool heater. In the evening, the solar pool cover will help prevent heat loss due to lower air temperatures and evaporation.

LOVE this solar pool cover! It works so much better than the blue ones we've had in the past. It's thicker and a much better quality, and it really heats the water up perfectly. Very fast shipping, too! Highly recommend.

This cover is alot better than other covers that I have used in the past. Being a heavier gage cover, it isn't as flexible rolling up when you take it off the pool, however it is more durable and will last longer and won't tear easy either. Also the clear does heat the pool up much faster.

We really were surprised by the thickness of this solar blanket. Much thicker than what we've had in the past. It was also our first clear blanket. Have to say, I like it. I being able to see the pool through the cover to see if it needs cleaning. I also really think a clear blanket will allow more heat to get through to the water. With the blue blankets, only the top few inches would warm up. With this clear one, the heat is spread more evenly in the pool.

I really don't think this clear cover warms the water any faster than the blue ones or retains the heat any better but it seems well made with heavy seams. Hopefully it will last and not yellow after a few seasons. I haven't noticed a huge increase in chlorine consumption with the sun shining through the clear cover vs the blue. The 12 mil thickness makes it less flexible and heavier but not a problem for one person to handle. Very quick shipping a plus!

Pros: Works great, raised temperature of water in one day, but it doesn't get too hot.
Cons: Hard to put on and take off by yourself.
Works great, raised temperature of water in 24 hrs, but it doesn't get too hot. Keeps debris out of the pool. I am anxious to see if it stores well and how long it lasts. Fast delivery.

The Magna Clear cover stands up to its name. This clear cover beats any colored solar cover we have ever owned. First cover that actually heats our pool several degrees and keeps it there even in low temps outside. I love it.
