The warranty covers the shipping cost for a replacement blanket only for the first 8 months.The warranty for this solar blanket is through Midwest Canvas.

other than the cost what is the difference between the 8 mil and 16 mil solar blanket.

The 8 mil blanket is thinner, is lighter weight, has a 5-year warranty, and does not retain heat as well as the 16 mil blanket. The 16 mil blanket has a 10-year warranty.
