We are buying a rockwood semi /in ground 24 foot round pool kit. It holds about 12500 gallons. Q1. Should we get this one (will it work ok with this pool?) . Q2. Would this be more energy efficient, or do you recommend a 1.5 and if so, which model? Q3. What filter to you recommend to go with this pump? (or if you suggest the 1.5 pump-what filter should we get)?. Q4. Thanks!

Hello - the PL1600 would not be a suitable replacement for your 1-HP Sta-Rite Dyna-Glas. I suggest using the Pureline Prime 1 HP - PL2601, as it will provide the closest flowrate output to your Dyna-Glas.

This pump would have less flow than a 1.5 HP Pentair Challenger. I would suggest the 1.5 HP PureLine Prime as great replacement pump, the plumbing ports on the PureLine Prime are not in the exact same spot as your current pump so you will have a little re-plumbing

It has 2 inch ports which can always be reduced to 1.5 inch with reducer fittings and also uses a Century A.O. Smith motor. It also come with unions and if you have a saltwater swimming pool then you can use the model PL2621 model which has a heavy duty shaft seal.

A  Answered on 4/28/2019 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi. To determine the flow rate of this pump, you will need to calculate the Total Dynamic Head (TDH) of your pool. Once that is calculated, use the PureFlow Performance Curve to see the GPM.

Hi Robert, I would check the impeller first by following our Video on How to Unclog an Impeller. If that doesn't work then I would replace the entire pump.

I need to replace my sta-rite 1 HP maxi II ( 12 years old)...this is for the PCC 2000 jets that clean the bottom of my 18,000 gallon inground pool. The pump/motor is the same HP for the filter/cartridge > 1 HP too. My two questions are: 1) Will this do the job & be a great replacement? 2) Should I keep the HP the same @ 1 HP? Since this is the size they engineered for my pool....or should I install the 1.5 HP....is that too much?
 Reply

A  Answered on 4/20/2019 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Hi Greg, The PureLine Pure Flow series pumps a little less water than the comparable HP in the Sta-Rite Maxi II. Our suggestion would be to go with the PureLine Prime 1 HP as that will be more comparable to the output of your Sta-Rite Pump. Since this is powering the floor jets you want to make sure you have enough power to pop those up, so you may even consider the PureLine Prime 1.5 HP PL2602

Hi Steve, The PL1601 1.5 HP Pump would be more comparable in output to the Dyna-Tech 1 HP and the PL1601 would be a suitable replacement. You may have a little bit of re-plumbing but it should not be too bad.

If you are looking to replace your entire pump then yes the PL1600 will be equivalent in power to your USQ1072 motor, however, please note you will have a bit of re-plumbing when installing the PL1600 as the plumbing ports will not be in the same location as your pump which uses the USQ1072 motor.

Hi Al, Yes the motor used on the PL1600 would be comparable in power to the U.S motors motor you have shown in your photo. You might even consider upgrading to the PL1601 1.5 HP Pump as it is only $10 more and would give you more output/gallons per minute.

So this pump actually has about a quarter of a horsepower less than your current model assuming the motor on there is or matches the original specs that came with the entire pump. I would advise looking for any in-ground pool pump that matches the total horsepower of 1.25.

Hi Jim, we would suggest this PL1600 PureLine Pump as a great replacement for the Sta Rite P2RA5D-180. The plumbing ports are not in the exact same position so you may have some minor re-plumbing, but nothing major.

I need to replace a Hayward Super Pump, model (A. O. Smith) C48J2N131B1, SP-1605-Z1-M Specs: 3/4 HP, 115/230 volts, max/load 11.0/5.5 volts volts, ,55 kw, 3450 rpm. Since this pump is 1 hp, would work ok with My filter, which is a Hayward S210T that states max 40 psi 2.7 bar. There are 3 elbows & about 3 ft of pvc between pump & filter. Thank you!!!!!
 Reply

A  Answered on 5/28/2017 by InyoPools Product Specialist Hector F.

If the 3/4 horse power was installed there per the builder then I would leave it as such because that may be what is best for the filter due to the flow rate. Now if you really want to step up to the 1 hp then you will need to calculate the feet of head to make sure that the filter can handle the extra flow rate.

I currently had a 1 HP Hayward Pump (can not read the entire old label) and my question is if I can purchase a 1.5 HP pump to replace it and if so what would be the advantage of buying a 1.5 HP over a 1HP. My pol is rather small (15K gallons)and 7 roof solar panels. Also in the features you list that both the 1HP and 1.5 HP can support solar heaters but in your question and answer page you answer someone that it would NOT be suitable for solar heating system. Would you please clarify. Thank You

Remove old pump, check the breakers to see if wired for 115 or 230. Simply wrap wires around whichever junctions you are supposed to. The instructions show you. Then repipe and it's good to go. Really easy.

Dead 1hp super pump hayward

Written on 8/6/2018 by Guest

First of all I disconnected the power wires and ground from timer. Second I cut out the inlet and outlet pipes from old pump. Third I connected the conduit to the new pump and timer( make sure you know the right voltage of your pump; pump is wired 220v from factory). Fourth I replied the front and top of pump. Finally I filled the pumps basket with water in order to prime the pump, turn on the motor, open the araliz at the filter to get air out and closed it once I got full Prime.
