What is the difference between the clear and the blue solar blanket?

First, the clear solar blanket is thicker than the blue; the clear is 14 mil thick while the blue is 12 mil. Secondly, the clear allows the sun to pass through the blanket thus heating the water better. The blue blanket tends to absorb the heat itself so the blanket gets hot, not the water. Lastly, the clear blanket has a 6 year warranty as opposed to the 5 year warranty for the blue.

Does the solar cover come with an overlap like a winter cover does?

No, the solar cover does not come with an overlap. A solar cover is designed to sit on top of the water's surface and fits on the inside perimeter of the pool wall.

We use our solar cover strictly to keep the heat in at night. Would you recommend the Magni Clear or the blue solar blanket?

The Magni Clear solar blanket will allow sunlight through during the day providing free heat. The blue solar blanket will reflect most of the sun's rays so you will not get that much of a temperature increase during the day. Both solar blankets will help retain the heat overnight. If you are using the solar blanket strictly at night time, I would recommend using the blue solar blanket.

I'm looking at the 12x24 to cut down for our free form pool. No room for a reel. What does the blanket weigh and how hard to put on/remove each day?

Hi Joel, This cover weighs approximately 50 lbs, without a reel system it will be a hassle to take on/off daily.

I have an inground, kidney-shaped pool and am in need of a new solar cover but the (metal) reel is still fine. Does the cover have seams or something to attach to my reel straps?

It is very common for the end of the straps to have some type of snap or fastening system to attach the solar covers. The covers do not have a fastening seam.

LOVE this solar pool cover! It works so much better than the blue ones we've had in the past. It's thicker and a much better quality, and it really heats the water up perfectly. Very fast shipping, too! Highly recommend.

More durable and better able to cope with water temperatures. Other blankets had bubbles burst and leave triangular vinyl pieces for sweeper to pick up. Limited service... usually only one season. We'll see about this blanket by this time next year.

I have an odd shaped in ground pool and did not want to spend the money or time getting a perfect fitting cover so purchased the smallest blanket thinking I just need to prevent some evaporation and warm up the water a bit. I live in Tucson and the evaporation issue is big. With this blanket covering 70-80% of the surface, evaporation has significantly been reduced. I leave it on all week, remove for the weekend or when the kids what to swim, which is easy since it is small. The water is very warm and as we head into fall, I should think the swimming season will be extended significantly. I used to have a thin blue version that fell apart. Have had this cover for three months and we'll see how well it holds up but so far so good.

It has multi purpose uses. In my case it was used to wrap around the greenhouse in which I keep my orchids. A very sturdy, yet malleable product, it has kept the temperatures inside at least ten degrees warmer than outside. And when it snowed, the color white was everywhere....but a few inches around the perimeter of the greenhouse were snow-free. This is one of the more practical, and certainly the greatest purchase I made toward the greenhouse, other than the orchids themselves.

Very glad I bought the solar blanket. It does extend swimming season by heating the pool water. It also reduces evaporation.
