For pools with heavy debris, Hayward leaf canisters are available. The large capacity canisters trap leaves and other large debris before they reach the pool's pump and filter system. The superior design allows the water to bypass the debris and maintain proper flow to the pump. The lexan see-thru construction allows you to immediately know when emptying is necessary.
This leaf canister plugs directly into the hose system of the Hayward Pool Vac Ultra and Hayward Navigator Pool Cleaners. It is simple to install and will save you time that was once spent cleaning your swimming pool. This is a must have if you own a Hayward Navigator or Hayward Pool Vac Ultra.

Can I use this w560 leaf cannister to keep leaves from getting into my lines or pump basket?

Yes this leaf cannister amongst a few other ones are designed to catch leaves and larger debris. This keeps debris from reaching plumbing lines, pump baskets and it even makes emptying it out easier being that it is right at pool level.

I intend on purchasing the Pool Cleaner 4 Wheel Cleaner and this leaf catcher.Can pool skimmer socks be used in the leaf catcher to catch small debris? Would it be better to get a skimmer cap with spout for the cleaner hose to attach to and have the skimmer sock in the skimmer basket? Thanks.

Hi Jerry, The Skimmer Socks can be used with this Leaf Canister, either option will work just as good.

DO NOT! Vacuum your pool without this canister. I was too lazy to hookup this canister one day and a small rock got wedged in the PVC between skimmer and pump while vacuuming. It took me 3 miserable hours to get it cleared. I will not vacuum my pool without this canister.

I am so glad that I chose the Standard Leaf Canister. I have two palm trees in my back yard that drop pesky leaves into the pool. With the leaf canister, my pool vacuum can clear up the debris. That saves me time and trouble I used to spend fishing leaves out of the pool with a net!

My pool is surrounded by woods so summer storms often pollute the pool with blown in needles and leaves. The design of my pool makes it inconvenient to stop and clean out the pump trap. With this device the leaves and debris are collected in-line. I can easily disconnect it and dump it.

Its used as a primary filtration system by collecting large debris before it reaches your pool pump. There are less dirt going into the main filter. Its easy to maintain and clean. It keeps the vacuum pressure more stable.

a great item to have when useing a pool vac/cleaner.. the top was hard to remove the first time but after the first time it was alot easier to remove.. you only have to remove maybe 2 or 3 times a month... does a great job.

Pros: Helps with leafs not going to your pool pump filter basket. Save wear on your pump. less leaves end up in your pool filter. A must have if you have even moderate amount of leaves in your pool. eas
Cons: You must clean when full. If your lazy there is no difference with or without this if you dont clean.
Buy It. If you even have a little issue with leaves, I would buy. This must be part of the price if you buy this type of pool cleaner.
