Does everything needed to install the filter and pump come with this? For example, pipe fittins, pump-to-filter fittings & plumbing, etc.

None of the plumbing comes with this system. The system would include the pump, filter and multiport valve on Sand and DE filters (cartridge filters do not require a multiport valve). Any additional plumbing or fittings would be purchased locally at a hardware store.

How many hours per day should I run my pump?

There are many factors to consider; bather load, gallons of water, pump horsepower, type and size of filter just to name a few. A good guideline is 8-10 hours a day. On the cooler days and early and late season, you can cut the run time down to 4-6 hours because there is usually less swimmers and cooler water requires less chemicals. In peak season, when it is the hottest, raising the run time to 10-12 hours per day will help to keep the pool clean and circulating during it’s time of heaviest use.

I have a 30,000 to 35,000 gallon in ground pool with 1.5" plumbing, 1 main drain, 1 skimmer and 5 returns. I am looking for a cartridge filter and a dual speed pump and would like to know if this is the correct size system for my pool?

As long as you don't have a spa, solar, in floor cleaning system or any special water features on your pool then you would be fine with this system. You could also go up to the Hayward 1.5 HP pump W/ 175 Sq. Ft. Filter which would also work fine for you. You will definitely see a huge savings in operational cost by going with the dual speed pump.

I would recommend inspecting any seals/gaskets on the suction side of the pump. You may have an air leak.

17,000 gal pool what size pump and filter would you recommend?

Hi, Unfortunately, the pool size is one of the factors we will need to size a pump and filter for a pool. We will also need the feet of head, plumbing size, and all other features of the pool to determine what size pump and filter you will need. We have a few helpful guide that you can use to gather the information needed to size a pool pump and filter like our How To: Size a Pool PumpHow To Size a Pool Filter guides and our How Do I Calculate Feet of Head for My Pool? blog.
