Product FAQs

Q:Does the RayPak 130,000 BTUs Above Ground Pool Heater come with the Standard Outdoor Draft Hood?

A:The RayPak 130,000 BTUs Above Ground Pool Heater, does include the Standard Outdoor Draft Hood (shipped with unit, shipped loose inside box of heater unit). The Indoor Stack Top is sold separately, which is part # 003723.

Q:Does this heater require a vent collar for indoor installation? It will be in a separate room with a vented door and not connected to the house.

A:Any gas or propane heater installed would require the appropriate indoor draft hood be installed. This would allow for proper ventilation of the heaters exhaust fumes.

1/16/2012

Q:Will a gas heater operate at the low speed of a dual speed motor?

A:Probably not - Most gas heater will shut off at low GPM levels (20-40) to keep the heater cores from overheating - 20 for 200 BTUs, 40 for 400 BTUs. Depending on your pool system you might get these GPM levels at the low speed but generally these heaters must be run at the motor's high speed.

(5 out of 5 Stars) Great Swimming Pool Heater

Reviewed By: from Howell, MI ()

Pros: Easy/Efficient

Cons: Probably too small for very large pools

Easy to install, easy operation and it works great. Here in Michigan this heater will help to extend our swimming season over two months. This 130,000 btu Raypak works great with our 22,000 gal in-ground pool. We are able to significantly heat our water without reducing the flow rate back to the pool so it doesn't diminish our filter/circulation function at all.

(5 out of 5 Stars) Pleasantly Surprised

I have 18 X 48 intex pool. Not a fancy pool, but I still wanted warmer water. I was thinking I would need a bigger one because everyone says more is better. I decided on this one because I have solar panels that would make up the difference, and it only need 1/2inch gas line. So, I was able to tap into my gas fireplace line. This model plugs in and has electronic ignition. NO pilot. very nice.
The performance is awesome. You can definitely feeling hot water coming into the pool. I put it on for a couple hours in the morning(I don't time so not sure exactly how long.) But by the time the kids are home from camp 90 degrees. Great when we get those cool nights in Chicago. I don't really need the solar panels anymore. The difference beween the two is night and day. With no sun, no problem, cold night no problem. Price is awesome, install easy. I did have to get some pvc reducers to get me down to 1 1/2inch intex pipe and proper adaptors. Or modify some Menard PVC to fit. Overall, extremely happy. We can now go in the pool after cold night, in cooler 75 degree weather, and at night. Delivery came with no problems with the box. NO DEFECTS.

Pros: Small footprint.Easy install. Price. Reliable.

Cons: Digital display not present.

Nice little heater for above ground pool or spa. Preferred the 185kbtu digital from raypak. Price point is good. Plumbing goes in and out of the rear of the heater. Weight 158lbs in packing materials. Comes wired for 120 with a standard 3 prong plug-in. Can be wired for 220 and remove the cord supplied. Upgrade to the cupro-nickel exchanger if your pH fluctuates alot or you are new with a pool.
