Looking at the ECO3 retrofit cartridge kit and description i see the 2 filters but what is the black disc leaning against the large filter? Does it come with the filters?

Hi Randy, The Black Disc is the manifold and it's included with the filters.

Hello, Ron. The manifold is required for the ECO3 Retrofit Cartridge Kit for System3 S7M120. The manifold is an updated part used in seating the cartridges into the bottom tank assembly.

When I tried to install the manifold, I found that the water inlet inside my tank was blocking it. I could not get the part to fit in the bottom of my tank. What do you advise?

Hi, There is a right and a wrong way to installed the manifold into the tank. If you're still having issues installing this kit you can contact Filbur at (888) 424-9185.

Reference ECO3 Retrofit Cartridge Kit. When purchasing an OEM System 3, S7M120 cartridge from Sta Rite there is no manifold device. What is the purpose of the manifold and does it create any back pressure from the restricted flow. It obviously redirects a greater amount of water through the filter vanes, I suppose for maximum cleaning. Is this endorsed by Sta Rite?

Hi, JStaz. The purpose of the manifold is to maximize water flow utilizing the filter square footage. This product is not endorsed by Sta-Rite.
