I measured the skimmer basket I have now and it is 8w x 5'length and 23" around
will this basket fit? What is the return policy if not?

Hi Heather, Can you supply the name of the skimmer that this basket is going into, you should be able to get a name or model # off of the skimmer lid and / or a part # off of the basket. Any of this information would help us determine the proper basket for you. Our return policy is that you may return the item in new and unused condition within 30 days of purchase.

This looks like my skimmer but mine has a part inside that goes up and down as it skims. What is that called?

That is the Weir, Floating Skimmer (b-38) PART # 4060-02 that installs with the Basket (r38013a 8500100) it is a floating weir, it is used with the American Products Admiral http://www.inyopools.com/pool_parts_american_products_admiral.aspx

Hello Karine. The Basket (r38013a 8500100) is the replacement for the skimmer basket shown in the attached photo. The Weir, Floating Skimmer (b-38) is the floating circular weir (insert 850012). This skimmer basket assembly is compatible with the American Products Skimmer model S C-20.

Pros: Easy to install, Easy to clean
This basket is better than the original basket that was installed by my pool builder! It is much sturdier and well constructed. This basket will hold up much betterand longer than others I have tried

Pros: Sturdy and deep
Cons: A little wide at the lip
This is a great basket. It is very sturdy. Much better than the one my skimmer came with. The only issue I had was that the lip was a little wide for the opening but that was fixed very easily with a little sand paper.

The slide channels for the tabs on the weir are not exactly the same as the original. The original has gap at the bottom that locks the weir in a captured position but the replacement has one at the top instead so that the weir dislodges when water level is high and occasionally gets stuck.

I have needed a skimmer basket for the past couple of years. I went to my local pool supply shop and was told that they did not carry one as large as the one I needed. They sold me the largest one they had and I was able to use it but would sometimes have a difficult time in getting it out to dump out the debris. By chance I was at a party that had a pool that had a skimmer as big as my pool and noticed that it was a Hayward skimmer. I goggled Hayward skimmer and came across INYOpools' website. They had many different skimmer baskets I found the one that looked like mine. They had dimensions of the basket and to my delight it was the same size as my old basket. Once I got the basket I was very pleased with how rugged it was and am sure I will get many years of use out of it. INYOpools did a great job packing the basket as well. A few days after I placed my order I had my new basket.
