Please note that capacitors store an electric charge and should be handled with the utmost caution and care. We do not encourage handling a capacitor without any type of safety measures in place and highly recommend contacting a professional service company for repair/replacement. For those that feel comfortable changing the capacitor here's  >How to replace a pool pump capacitor. In order to match up the capacitor you will need more specifications on the capacitor. You will need to match the voltage, the MFD, whether or not the capacitor is a >run or >start type and the actual dimensions of the capacitor body.

I bought a new Hayward 2 speed pump - 230 volts with an AO Smith motor model number sp1610Z2msc, but it won't start and might need a new capacitor. Which one do I need for this motor?

I have an a.o. smith 2green pump CAT # b975t, part 7-177060T-05, serial number 142123M. I keep getting the overcurrent fault 7 code and the shaft moves fine, was thinking that because it makes a humming sound and then stops that it could need a new capacitor. Is this an accurate thought? If so which capacitor would I need? Thanks

Jim, The fault can not be fixed. The motor will need to be replaced per Century.
