This is composed of 2 items glued together. One is a black plastic item. Male pipe threads on one side, union buttress threads on the other It has "LEFT HAND THREAD" marked on it and "19-4884" marked on it. The other is a lateral. Order item 4600-4871 for drain cap
The black portion of this drain assembly can be purchased separately. The part number is 194884.
So to install you screw it in from the outside counter clockwise?

Yes this would be correct it installs from the outside...unfortunately when replacing the drain plug you will need to remove the sand from your filter.

Does this part come with an option for right hand threads? I have a customer with older filters and he states that his bottom drain is right hand threads.

DOES IT NEED AN O-RING ON THE 2" THREAD AND IS THE O-RING INCLUDED?

Hello John. According to Pentair, the Pentair Pool Products Drain for Pentair Triton Sand Filter 2", part number 152220, is complete with O-ring.
