This generic replacement gasket is used on the Hayward Star Clear Filter models C-250, C-500, C-750, and C-1000. It goes between the filter head and filter tank body.
How is the ring positioned in the cap? Does it require silicone to seal?

Hello Rick - The o-ring should simply seat into place on the tank body. And as with all o-rings ( except light gaskets ) the use of a non-petroleum based lubricant is always suggest.

will this 0-Ring fit my California Cooperage Model CC2500 filter? the parts list says it is made by Hayward. On the parts list it is called a Filter Head Gasket. photo attached...
