Hi, Jack. Yes, you can replace a 300 watt fixture with a 250 watt version as long as it is compatible with the niche and electrical.

I have this exact light, Pentair AquaLight 77360300 T-4 bulb type, and I guess the bulb died because it's not working. Is there a color-changing LED replacement bulb for this light? Thanks!

Hi Douglas, unfortunately, there is not a replacement LED bulb for the Pentair Aqualight light series however you can replace the entire fixture with either the Pentair Intellibrite or the Pentair Spa Brite and replace the Spa Brite bulb with an LED bulb.
