6290-522 THIS IS USED ON OLDER STA-RITE HEATERS. THE CURRENT HEATERS USE A STACK FLUE SENSOR BOTH ARE USED IN THE SAME SPOT ON THE HEATER THIS IS HOW TO TELL WHICH ONE IS BEING USED. THE OLDER STACK FLUE SWITCH INYO # 6290-045, HAS 2 SPADE CONNECTORS ATTACHED DIRECTLY TO THE SENSOR THE CURRENT VERSION, STACK FLUE SENSOR HAS 2 SHORT WHITE WIRES COMING OFF OF IT THE SPADE CONNECTORS ARE ATTACHED TO THE ENDS OF THE WIRES INYO # FOR THIS IS 6290-522

Can I test this sensor with an OHM meter? What reading would indicate a bad sensor?

Hi. Resistance should be 3.5-4.0 megaohms, if not it will need to be replaced. .

Does this correct an E05 error? Stack flue temp is at 70 when E05 shuts everything down.

Hi, Yes, replacing this sensor will correct the issue that you're having that is causing the error code to appear.

An E01 is a thermistor open code. That is key number 21 on the part diagram here.
