Is this vent tube necessary? I forgot to put it in last time I cleaned the filters on our Purex Triton 2036 Filter. It just fits into a small hole in the manifold..... nothing really holds it there...... and I wonder what it does to help the filter. I will put it back when I clean the filters again today but really would like to know how it works?? Thanks :)

Bonnie, The vent tube helps purge air from inside of the filter tank. It is recommended to operate the filter with the vent in place. If not, air can become trapped inside and the filter may have to be taken apart to remove the air.

Save the old tube and match the length on the new tube and cut for an exact match.
