I have anH150FD pool heater. I keep getting an HS error code. I'm thinking the thermistor or the "high limit switch" may be faulty. I don't believe there is a water flow problem. Should I replace those two items?

John, The HS error code is usually caused by 1 of 2 things: A) Inlet water temperature sensor is reporting a temperature in excess of 104°F. Normal operation resumes 2 minutes after inlet water temperature sensor reports temperatures of 104°F or less. This error functions in both normal and remote thermostat modes. or B) Inlet water temperature sensor is reporting a temperature change at a rate faster than 6°F in 60 seconds, indicating a potentially damaging low water flow conditon. Normal operation resumes when temperatures stabilize. If this condition is detected 3 times, the heater will lock-out until the electrical power is cycled off and back on.

I have an H400 series pool heater. I keep getting an 5F error code. I'm thinking the thermistor or the capacitor may be faulty. What would you replace if not both?

Hi Martin, the SF (Sensor Failure) indicates that the temperature sensor (thermistor) is not getting good data to the circuit board. Check the wiring. If the wiring is okay and the error persists, replace the sensor.

Hi Gary, the SF (Sensor Failure) indicates that the temperature sensor (thermistor) is not getting good data to the circuit board. Check the wiring. If the wiring is okay and the error persists, replace the sensor. We would just need to know the heater model number to confirm which sensor you need.
