Is this left handed/reverse threads? What is the simplest way to remove my old one?

The impeller is reverse/cross threaded. You will need to remove the back cover of the motor and lock the exposed portion of the motor shaft with a wrench to remove the impeller. Please refer to our How To Replace A Pool Pump Impeller for additional information.

Would this fit American Pump, Ultra Flow Model B855 serial # 10400CH, volts230, HP 2,frame Y56Y. This is a Sylvan/Anthony pool built in 1998, 20 x 40, 862 sq ft water surface. also replacing the shaft seal as I have a leak under the motor. Thanks for any help. Do I really need to replace the impeller at this time?

If you have a leak then normally the impeller is not needed to be replaced. We would suggest this Ultra Flo Seal Kit for a leak
