Will the niche adapter help if the light is slightly smaller than the original niche

My niche is an older model with the mounting screw at the 2 o'clock position rather than the 12 o'clock position. the niche is barely 10 " across and 5 3/8" deep. can I use the CMP adapter ring and the INTELLIBRITE 5g POOL LED WHITE ?
