Will this work on an Intex pool with round uprights?

The above ground fence will not mount to a round upright.

We have a 16' x 32' above ground olympic pool (wood frame with deck) - the wooden steps would flip up and latch to the wood fence around the decking, but over the years the stairs got too heavy for us to flip up, so we leave them down (the pool is in our fenced in yard); now that we have a granddaughter we want added protection to keep her out of the pool - will this gate section work?
