Pool filter grids had holes in them.

Written on 6/19/2018 by John S.

Drained the filter, lifted off the top and removed the filter assy. Unscrewed 2 nuts and removed the grids. Assembled the same way. Put some lube on the water inlet to assist the rubber ring seal

Torn filter screens

Written on 5/8/2018 by Guest

This was done while the pool was closed so the prerequisite steps of relieving pressure, draining and opening the filter were already done, and the filter assembly was already removed.

1. Using a wrench or pliers to hold the bolt at the bottom, loosen the threaded rod that runs through the filter assembly. No need to completely remove the rod.
2. Carefully pop the top plate off the individual filters - in my case, a couple were stubborn, but with some gentle persuasion, they came loose.
3. Pay close attention to where the short filter fits. It isn't that complicated if you look at where it fits in relation to the gap on the bottom plate. Also note how the screens fit in between the spacers/holders in the bottom plate.
4. I found it easiest to remove all the screens, wash off the top and bottom plates, and then re-assemble. Again, make sure the short screen is in the correct position.
5. Reposition the top plate - it can take a little bit of fiddling to get all the screens aligned with the holes in the top plate, but take your time and you'll get it.
6. Again, with a wrench on the bottom of the threaded rod, tighten from the top.
7. Confirm that there is a space for the outflow tube from the gap in the bottom plate up to the connection in the top plate. If not, you installed the short screen in the wrong place.
8. In the filter body, make sure the o-ring where the filter assembly meets the outflow tube is in good shape and is well lubricated.
9. Press the filter assembly on to the outflow tube
10. Re-assemble and recharge your filter per the instructions.

pool green and cloudy and could not get it to clear up

Written on 3/5/2017 by Guest

After changing the DE and still no improvement, I decided the filter was not working. So I pulled the top half off the filter and found that 5 of the grids were broken off where they connect to the outlet header of the filter. This allowed the water and the new DE I added to pass right through the filter and back into the pool. I went to INYOpools on internet and ordered a new set of grids for my filter and associated o-ring. I installed the new grids and new DE and within 2 days the water was clear as it should be.
