What Does My Pump Motor’s Frame (FR) Rating Mean?

Your pump motor’s frame (FR) rating notes three key parts of your motor’s design which will help you match your current motor to a replacement. The three key parts are:

  • Barrel Size
  • Flange Shape
  • Shaft-End Type

As we know from previous blogs and how-to guides, the quickest and easiest way to find your pump’s motor replacement is to input the motor’s , (CAT) or number into Inyo’s search feature. However, over time pump motor labels fade, tear or smudge making the part or catalog number unreadable. Knowing your motor’s frame rating, in conjunction with its horsepower, service factor and amps, will help you find a match.

Why Do I Keep Getting Bubbles In My Jets?

Everybody loves a bubble bath, show me a person who doesn’t and I’ll show you a liar. Bubbles are fun but for pool owners bubbles represent a time for panic. For us, bubbles are no longer the sign of fun in the sun and frolicking, they are a harbinger of doom. Ok, that was a little excessive but you get the point. A stream of bubbles is a sign of the unwanted presence of air within our pool’s plumbing system. This air is likely the cause of a sucking air leak from a pump, union or diverter gasket. The leaks and the air pockets they form will lower water pressure and greatly decrease the capacity of our filter system. (more…)
