Are saltwater pools actually salty? Most people, pool owners included, assume that having a salt water generator makes their swimming pool water salty. I think that they are expecting to swim in water that you find at the beach. I mean, who doesn’t love going to the beach, right? Unfortunately, though, this is a common misconception and a high expectation. Though it would be nice, salt water generators do not mimic the beach experience.

When people find out that I deal with swimming pools on a daily basis, one of the most common questions I get is, “What do you think about salt pools?” to which I find myself going into a little sales blurb on what a salt pool is. I would say 90% of the people have heard of salt pools, but don’t really know how they work. Most know they are supposed to be nicer than chlorine pools and think that salt pools don’t use chlorine, but this is not the case.
