Hello,
I’m a new pool owner and am concerned that our equipment setup isn’t quite right (installed by a professional…but still not right). I’m having the following challenges:
- difficulty cycling/turning the water in two separate bodies of water (pool and spa) as it requires manually changing the valves to match a scheduled cycle
- low pressure/output for the spa jets (total of 8 jets located approximately 50 feet from the pump)
- insufficient flow from two waterfalls (each waterfall is 24" and located approximately 35’ & 52’ from the pump)
- undersized filter
Here is the current setup:
4 Intake valves (Pentair 2-Way Valves):
- Pool Skimmer
- Pool Main Drains
- Pool Vacuum
- Spa
Valves feed the pump:
- Pentair Intelliflo VSF 3 HP
Pump feeds the filter:
- Pentair CCP240 (only allows for 90 GPM and the pump can produce 160 GPM)
Filter feeds the Heater
- Pentair MasterTemp 400 Natural Gas Heater
Feeds the Salt Chlorine Generator
- Pentair InteliChlor Salt Chlorine Generator
Feeds the Return Valves (Pentair 2 Way Valves)
- Spa Return
- Pool Return
- Waterfall(s) Return (Note that this valve does have an automatic actuator)
All controled by a Pentair Easy Touch Control System.
Possible Improvements:
-
Keep all equipment, add 3-Way Valves with Auto Acutators, just before the pump and just after the InteliChlor). This would allow me to leave the spa and pool valves open and the 3-way would automatically control which body of water is being filtered/heated on a daily schedule.
-
Add a separate pump for the spa, and/or a booster pump. This would allow for better pressure in the jets and would allow the pump to be on it’s own schedule.
-
Add a separate pump for the waterfalls
-
Upgrade the filter so that I can run the current pump at higer RPM’s to properly feed the waterfalls and spa jets.
I know that this is a lot of information, and I’m sure that I’m missing key components, however, I would appreciate candid feedback/ideas on how to get this setup dialed in. Thanks in advance for your help!
