Air leak during startup

I was wondering if someone can help to guide me to make sure my train of thought is correct.

I have large air bubbles coming from the returns only during start up in the morning. It lasts only 1-2 minutes and the no more bubbles. I also have air in the filter ( I use relief valve to empty it). I presume that my air leak is from multi port but wanted to see other opinion before changing it.

I see no air in the pump basket and no leaks in the plumbing. No water around the multi port but air gets into the system somehow overnight when pump is off.

Any ideas?

I few air bubbles at startup is nothing to worry about. It’s only problematic when large amounts of bubbles continue to flow from the return jets the entire time the pump is running.

There could be an issue with the valve. If there was a leak in the valve, water would come out of it while the pump is running. Water would come out of it because it’s on the pressure side of the system.

No it is only in the beginning of the running pump but it is large amount of air initially that quickly subsided and then disappears. I believe that air is entering the filter since it is large amount initially that gets displaced. I just can’t find from where. It might be relief valve. Would replacing o rings at relief valve or filter O ring might help?

I know that it is not damaging things but it is annoying that my filter sucks in air/ depressurizes when pump is off.

You can start with those o-rings. Usually, it would leak from those areas while the pump is running if they were defective.
