We bought a house last year with an in-ground pool. Last year it was run dry for a while before we took posession of the house and then made crazy loud noises (worse as the season went on). It was also leaking, I assume from some gasket which deteriorated without my knowing when it was run dry. We planned to replace the motor this year because of that. Upon visual inspection I wondered if the housing is OK since it looks like there’s a little warp in it or something from the picture. I’m afraid I have no reference so I was wondering if an expert could look at this picture and let me know if it looks OK.
My plan is just to replace it with this one: A.O. Smith 1/2 HP Round Flange 56J Full Rate Motor - ST1052, and get a tune-up kit.
