Century 1.0 HP Square Flange 56Y Full Rate Motor - B2848 - B848

I currently have a B848 pump and it is overheating, which sometimes causes the breaker to switch. A local pool guy said it was $650 to replace the motor (including install). After seeing a new motor for $200, I’d like to do it myself.

Couple questions:

Which seal kit do I need?

Is there a more energy efficient model?

If so, do I need to replace/change anything else?

  1. The seal kit will depend on the make and model of the pump side. If you are unsure, post a picture of the complete pump.

  2. The more energy-efficient motor option would be model ECM16SQU. That is a 1.65HP variable speed motor. Click Here to View the ECM16SQU Motor

  3. Typically, the seal kit and motor would be sufficient.
