Thinking about changing my sand filter to a cartridge filter. I have read that over sizing a cartridge filter can be better for maintenance. Which size would I need and what would be a good oversized filter. 12000 gallon fiberglass saltwater pool. Currently running a single stage 1 1/2 HP pump.

Hi John, oversizing a cartridge filter will help your flow and will reduce the frequency of cleaning it. I like the single cartridge filters like this Waterway Pro-Clean Plus 200 Sq Ft Filter - PCCF-200. They are economical up-front and economical to replace the cartridge. 200 square feet should be plenty for your sized pool.
