Hello! I recently bought an Colman 16x48 inch deep above ground pool. Holds up to 5,145 gallons of water. The filter and pump that comes with it Is not working. I have water coming out from the top of the filter. We want to replace the pump and filter. Which pump and filter do you recommend us to buy for our pool? 
What more thing. The filter and the pump you recommended. What size is the connection for the water hole pump? How big is the holes of the pump and filter?
The pump and filter have 1.5" ports.

I would recommend a cartridge filter/pump over a sand filter/pump combo. The cartridge filter down to smaller microns.

Before anything. My husband want to know what’s is the difference from a filter Generic cartridge 25 sq. Ft. 4325 from a Hayward Microstar-clear C-225 (MICROBAN)? Which one you recommend us for the 25 sq.ft. cartridge filter system w/40 gpm pump?
