Would a hairline crack in standpipe cause earth to filter back into the pool?

Yes, a crack in the standpipe could allow DE to flow back into the pool.
I'm still trying to figure out why earth flows back to pool. I'm now looking for a new 0 ring for standpipe.
Everything else checks out ok.
Where is the DE returning to the pool? Is the DE blowing out of the jets when the pump is running or is it blowing up through the skimmer and main drain when the pump shuts off?
I've tighten and lubed all connections and replaced o ring on standpipe. Also new grid assembly. Not over doing on Earth ,ten lbs pressure.
Still blowing earth into pool thru jets.
Maybe I'll fill the sucker in!
Below are some reasons why DE would blow back through the return jets.
- Torn DE Grids
- Cracked Manifold
- Cracked Standpipe
- Damaged or Missing Standpipe O-ring
- Bad Spider Gasket
- Too Much DE Added
