So my pump motor is screaming like a banshee. Bad bearing(s) obviously.
Having no luck at finding out what size bearing I need to order, I started pulling the motor apart on Sunday.
I broke 3 of the 4 through bolts getting it apart and can’t get the bolt holding the locking tab on the front off, no matter how much WD-40 I spray on it.
I have started contemplating a new motor. The motor on the pump is a Century HSQ165 1.65 THP.
I also need a Diffuser and Impeller. From the remnants of the tag and some searching I have figured out that I have a Sta-Rite P2RA5D-120L pump. Looking up that pump, I found that P2RA5D-120L is a “Sta-Rite Max-E-Glas/Dura-Glas UP-Rated Pump” and is specified to have a 3/4 HP motor.
When I looked up the part numbers for the Diffuser (C1-216P) and Impeller (C105-92PS) they also say they are for a 3/4 HP motor.
… but I have a 1.65 THP motor.
This is the pump and motor that came with pool when we bought the house 6 years ago. I have no history prior to that.
What would be the proper motor to put on my pump?
