Hayward aqua rite salt reading too low

I have a Hayward Aqua Rite with a t15 cell. I added a bag of salt to my 24k gallon pool after a heavy rain. I just started doing this and did not realize I should have turned of my SWG for 24 hours after adding the salt. It’s now about 5 hours later and my salt reading is showing 1400. It was showing 2800 before I added the salt. I inspected my cell and it is clean. My test kit says my chlorine level is perfect 2.0.

I have turned off the SWG and plan to run the pump 24 hours and then turn on the SWG. Did I permanently damage the SWG by not turning it off after adding salt, or can I expect it to go back to an accurate reading after I run the pump? If it doesn’t give me an accurate reading after doing this, any suggestions?

Hello DouglasF - I don’t think you did any damage to the salt cell. If you are still getting an incorrect reading after 24 hours, try recalibrating the system. We have a guide titled “How to Recalibrate the Salt Level on a Hayward Aqua Rite”.

You are correct, the reading has corrected itself.  Thanks Rob.

Glad to hear it’s working now. Thanks for the update!
