Hayward Super Pump VS motor replacement

I currently have a 1hp, single speed Hayward Super Pump that is used in a 25,000 gallon pool with a T-15 salt system. I’m looking to upgrade to a VS motor. What are my options and will that be enough flow rate for my salt system? Thanks

We’d recommend the Century ECM16CU. The ECM16CU is a 1.65HP variable speed motor. The lowest speed may not be enough for the salt system but you can test the different speeds to find out the minimum RPM setting.

We recommend replacing the seals when you replace the motor. The seal kit is GOKIT3. Use GOKIT3SALT if you have salt water.

Will I need a new impellar with this motor?

You can use your existing impeller.

Are you sure? I can’t seem to get a straight answer. I’ve been told I need to upgrade to part #SPX2615C?

I am sure. The SPX2615C impeller is designed for a motor that has a total HP of 2.25. That would be too high for the ECM16CU, which is 1.65. You can go up to the SPX2610C to maximize the output potential of the ECM16CU but it’s not required.
