Help identifying pool equipment and configuration

Hello,
Have a couple of questions about the equipment in my set up.
The attached photo shows the hardware downstream from the pump, fabric filter, and heater.
The Jandy valve at the top of the picture is coming from the heater. The right output is a direct return to the pool.
The other output goes a yellow spherical device and to a second Jandy valve connected to the chlorinator.
Questions:

  1. What is the yellow spherical device? It has no labels and I haven’t tried to open it yet.
Is there more to it underground? Does it return to the pool underground and why wouldn’t it connect to the main return pipe?
  2. Why would the output of the chlorinator exit to a separate pipe going underground rather than the main return pipe?
    Thank you!
  1. The yellow sphere is an in-floor cleaner. It pops up jets ate the bottom of the pool to push around debris so the skimmer or main drain can remove it from the pool. It helps the general circulation of water in the pool.

  2. I don’t know why they plumbed it that way. But if it is working, then it is fine.

Thanks InyoMatt!

One m,ore question… I’m thinking about replacing the chorinator with a salt chlorine generator, which will take a little replumbing to fit in.  Should part of the chlorinator output flow through the infloor cleaning system?  It looks like the current chorinator flows  back to the pool (won’t know without uncovering the plumbing.)  but if there is a preferred/ideal way to connect the units, this would be the time to make the update.

Thanks
