Help me beat algae on walls

Hi, New guy here.  I’m new to the forum, but not new to pools.

I’ve been self maintaining my plaster pool for 15 years and doing a decent job, but this year, I can’t seem to beat the algae.

My water is crystal clear, but I’ve got algae on the walls and nothing seems to kill it. I’ve used Super60 and shock repeatedly without any real success. When I’ve used Super 60, I’ve followed with shock and scrubbed and the algae diminishes, but it’s right back the next day.

Any ideas ?

Dear Pool hater:

I am there with you.  I think you probably need to bite the bullet and go to Leslies and get the yellow out and shock package.  This does work, but is a pain and expensive.  They will lay it out, but from memory, Add yellow out and shock, wait 12 hours, add more shock, wait 12 hours add more shock. They will have amounts based on your pool size.

Also, you must have a wire brush, not just a plastic brush.  Don’t overbrush with the wire one as it can damage plaster.  Good luck.

Good afternoon. Please click here to view our how-to guide called How to Treat Moderate Swimming Pool Algae that should help and would be good to keep for future reference.
