I recently installed a new Caretaker 5-port manifold and replaced my 4 old Jandy 460 cartridge filters with Pleatco PJAN115 filters. While waiting on my new Caretaker rebuild kit to come in, I took out the old Caretaker manifold and reinstalled the housing and just let the water run through the empty housing for about a week. At the same time, I installed the new PJAN115 filters, cleaned out all the skimmer brackets, lubed all the O-rings, cleaned out the breather tube at the top of the filter, and checked/lubed the check valves. In this configuration (without the Caretaker manifold installed, water running through the empty Caretaker housing), the PSI at the pump was about 25 and the PSI at the Caretaker housing was 0 and everything seemed to be functioning normally. I installed the new Caretaker rebuild kit yesterday and the PSI at the Caretaker sits at about 20 (which is between the 14-22 range the troubleshooting guide on Jandy’s website states it should be), but the PSI at the pump fluctuates between 35-40 and the heater and return pipes visibly and audibly shake at the higher PSI levels. The Caretaker manifold seems to be functioning properly as the in-floor pop-ups are cycling through their zone rotation normally. I know the Caretaker manifold should increase the PSI at the filter a little bit, but 35-40 PSI at the pump seems excessive to me. The system seems to be primed and I have disassembled and reassembled everything 2 or 3 times to try to find and loose seals or installation issues. I’ve checked to make sure all the valves are in the correct position before starting the system and the pool water depth is at the correct level. I can’t figure out why the PSI is so high. I haven’t tried running the pump (Jandy Stealth SHPF 3.0) without the PJAN115 cartridges installed. Do you have any advice you can give me? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
