Identifying pool pump year made

I had a pool pump and housing installed this week and it looks quite used.  The only thing I can make out on the faded and dirty label is Magnetek and the SN which is BS12-04.

Can anyone help me identify how old this pump is?

The housing was spray painted over and so was the silver decal so I am suspecting fraud by the pool service company on both counts.
