Just installed a new pump motor. When I snug down the 3 screws that secure the impeller assembly, the motor binds and can’t turn.  I have to loosen the screws to allow the motor shaft to turn.  I replaced the old B2848 w/ a high efficiency B2848.

Thank you for contacting Inyo. What is the make and model of the pump?

Can you post a picture of the complete pump side?

It looks like you have a Pac-Fab Challenger pool pump. Did you install a new shaft seal when the motor was replaced? If the old one was used and a piece was missing, the impeller could have been threaded on too much. This would cause the impeller to bind up against the seal plate.

If the shaft seal is the piece that has the spring in it then yes.  I purchased a seal kit with the motor and used all the seals that came it.

I did loosen the impeller and it seemed to help.

Thank you.
