New booster pump tripping the breaker

I replaced my Century B625 3/4 hp booster pump motor with an exact replica (same part number). After hooking everything back up, I flipped the breaker switch and one of the live wires (attached with a wire clip) popped off the tab and the breaker tripped. I disconnected, then reconnected, all the wires (1 ground wire and 2 live wires) and tried it again…same result when I flipped the breaker switch. Is the issue with the motor or could it be a breaker box problem?

We’d be glad to assist you. Could you post a picture of the wiring terminal so we can see how it is currently wired?

One of your hot black lines should be connected to terminal 1 and the other hot black line should be connected to terminal 6. If the breaker is still tripping, make sure the wires have a good connection at the breaker. After that test the breaker with a multimeter. If the breaker is ok, contact the retailer who sold you the motor. It may be defective.
