plumbing

I have a newly installed Hayward 1.65 THP VS Pump.  It was was installed by a pool guy who left three inches between the pentair selector valve and the motor seal flange.  In the owners manual on page 5 it says for 1.5in pipe 7.5 inches of straight pipe is required.  The new motor started making a ticking noise the a squeeking noise.  I reinstalled the old super pump ordered and recieved Part APCAS201 mhotor seal from youguys.  When I reinstall the new pump after changing the seal could I put 2in pipe over the pentair valve(it fits) to the motor flange(it fits) and increase the lenght to 10inchs as per manual. Would this be a good idea.  At lower rmps the new motor does show air bubbels but I’m told this is normal for lower rpms.

Thanks

Hi,

Yes I would suggest a longer run of straight 2" pipe directly into the inlet of the pump that should help. Check out our Video on Fixing Common Pool Plumbing Mistakes which goes into more detail on this.
