Pool Heater (Heat Pump)

Good morning im looking for a Hayward (to match everything else) heat pump, i live in FL and have a 14 x 28 3ft-6ft roman style pool, i believe it holds about 12k+ gallons of water… Based on reviews it looks like the HP21254T is a good choise, just wanted to be sure thats what i need and not smaller or larger…

Also for $200 more i could get the 140k btu model, any reason not to? i guess it uses more power so higher electric bill?? but it could get to the desired temp faster so lower running time = lower elecric bill??

Hello Miguel - The 125k BTU Hayward Heat Pump would be sufficient for your pool. You could go with the 140k BTU and it would heat the pool up quicker. The difference in the electric consumption would be negligible.

Any reason NOT to go with the 140k? or any reason to get the 125k instead of the 140k?

We’ve talked to several Hayward reps and other pool professionals and they all have the same opinion. As long as the larger unit has a coefficient of performance (C.O.P.) that’s equal to or greater than the smaller unit, you should go with the larger heat pump. In this case, both units have a C.O.P. rating of 5.7.
