Pool Light

I have a Sta-Rite StarBrite in the ground pool pool light. I have replaced the bulbs with 2 Halogen 12v 100 W bulbs.  I installed a new Intermatic 100 watt transformer which was existing in the original installation. The light operates fine for at least 15 to 30 minutes then it shuts off on its own. After a while you can turn the switch back on and the light comes on again but only for 15 or 30 minutes. The 14ga wire run from the transformer to the light is approximately 80 feet and I have the transformer tapped at 13v. I don’t see any type thermal overload protection in the light. I also don’t know if the transformer is equipped to shut down on overload. Has anyone else experienced this problem and can help me with a solution? I was thinking of changing the transformer to a 300w rated one. Thank You JohnII

Hello John - Thank you for contacting Inyo. It sounds like an undersized transformer issue. A 300w transformer should solve your problems.
