My pool pump loses prime(suction) after about 30 minutes of running. The motor also gets very hot to touch. It runs great for the first 30 minutes or so. What could be the problem?

It sounds like you have a suction side air leak. The most common cause is a leak around the pump lid. Replacing that gasket will usually solve the problem. Other common areas include the pump intake port, diverter valves, and pvc fittings before the pump.
