Pool Pump

I have a Century-AO Smith B2984  2-speed pump that keep tripping the Thermal Overload Protector on high speed after ~5 seconds. No binding or abnormal sounds. It runs fine on low speed. I believe it is simply a bad Thermal Overload Protector.  Is there anything else I am not considering? Do you have this part for my pump? Can you give me the exact PO# so I can make sure it will work before I order it.

Thanks,

BruceS

When the motor shuts off on high speed it is usually a bad run capacitor. You can test the capacitor to see if it is dead. If so, the replacement run capacitor is part number 19566235.

The thermal overload protector would be part number 2017793-002. Unfortunately, we could not source any vendors who had that item.

We have an article titled “How to Test a Pool Pump Motor Capacitor”.
