Pump Motor

Dear INYO,

I have a Jandy Stealth model # SHPM2.0 pump with serial no. (not too clear) 105FF6065.  Is the A.O. Smith 1.5 HP Square Flange 56Y Full Rate EE Motor-B2842 the correct motor for this pump?  I currently have what appears to be the B2855 motor (2.0 HP).  Am I going to have to run the 1.5 HP pump longer to move the same amount of water that the 2.0 HP pump moves?  Also, my pool is salt water, is it ok to use the RO445500 shaft seal?

Thank you,

Alex33

The 1.5HP full rated B2842 has a total HP of 2.21. This is the same as your current 2Hp uprated B2855. You will not have to run the full rated 1.5HP motor longer than the 2HP uprated motor.

The correct salt water shaft seal for the SHPM pump with serial numbers before P08FF0001 is 5020-086. The shaft seal for pumps with serial numbers after P08FF0001 is 5020-087.

Therefore the 1.5 HP (1.5 HP x 1.47 SF = 2.205 HP) B2842 would cost less to run compared to the 2.0 HP (2.0 HP x 1.1 SF=2.2 HP)  B2855 running for the same amount of time and moving the same amount of water in that time, correct?

Also, I have a Jandy Pool/Spa Filter Model #CL460 Serial # H05KF2284  Effective Filtration Area 460 sf; Design Flow Rate 150; Required no. of cartridges 4; Max. working pressure 50; Replacement elements part # (NOT LEGIBLE); Required Clearance for Service (NOT LEGIBLE).

I have never changed these before ( I bought the house recently) Which cartridges do you recommend?  Is it the PL0101-4 (Generic Cartridge)?

Thank you

Alex33

The B2842 would cost less to run if it operated the same amount of time as the B2855.

Yes, the PL0101 would be the correct replacement cartridges for your Jandy CL460.

For the Jandy Pool/Spa Filter Model #CL460, which pressure gauge do you recommend?  The Zodiac R0357200 air gauge release valve that I bought lasted less than 1 year before it stopped working.

Thank you,

Alex33

We would recommend using part number 4727-0. It will thread into your existing gauge/air release assembly.
