I have a AO Smith Century Centurion B849 1.5 hp pump motor that I need to replace. I read that a B842 is a better replacement because of efficiency. Is this the case and is it a direct replacement for the B849? If so what seal kit to use with a Sta right 2pr pump?
Yes, the B842 pool motor is a drop-in energy-efficient replacement for the B849. If you have a P2R series Sta-Rite Dura-Glas, the seal kit is GOKIT54. That seal kit is designed for Dura-Glas models manufactured since 1998. It will work on older units if the copper cone is removed from the seal plate.
