Pump motor replacement

Hello. I have tried to follow the guides on your site, but am having difficulty identifying the proper replacement pump motor for my about-to-fail AO Smith / Century one.

I would greatly appreciate your assistance in identifying the proper replacement, preferably both a single-speed and a variable-speed option for me to consider.

Thank you!

The information label is here:

Hi Jarret,

Based on your photo you would need this 1.5 HP TriStar Full Rate Motor (2.4 True HP) if you wanted to go with a Variable Speed motor then you would this 2.7 True HP Variable Speed Motor Either way you go, you will also need a TriStar Shaft Seal when swapping out the motor. We do have a Video on How to Replace a Pool Motor which you may find helpful when you do your repair. Keep in touch on how the repair goes, we always love to see photos.

Thank You

Patrick

What motor and and everything else would I need to install / replace just the motor? Pump isn’t leaking.

Hello Hisierra1 - Thank you for contacting Inyo. The replacement motor is part number SPX3210Z1BER. The tune-up kit is part number GOKIT81. That should be everything you need to replace the motor.

I replaced my Hayward 1 1/2 HP single speed with a Pentair Superflow VS pump.   At Prime, quick clean & 3000rpms the pump basket is full, when I use the factory setting for Stage 2 (1400rpms) the pump looses prime.

I adjusted it to 2400rpms but the pump basket only then is only 1/2 full.   Is that normal on VS pump?

My pool skimmer and drain line are approx 100ft away from the pump.

It is normal for the pump strainers to not be completely full when running a VSP on lower speeds. The feet of head may be preventing you from operating at the lower RPM’s. My concern would be that the pump strainer would run dry if the filter gets dirty or you develop a small air leak. I would kick the RPM’s up a little higher.
