Changed out bad motor (Century 1hp, 3450 rpm) with exact swap and put new impeller on my Magnum force pump that is identical to the old one. Ordered all from inyoPools, Turned everything back on and my pump psi wont come back up to original psi. It is about approx. half (because my psi guage is broke right now). Back washed it several times, rinsed it but nothing seems to help. Could the motor be turning backwards? would it still pump some if it was doing that? i hooked it up identically to the old one.

The impeller/shaft would not run backwards. Is there any air in the pump strainer or bubbles coming out of the return jets?
on occasion yes , very small amount coming out of jets
i am begnning to think the pipe on either side of the inline chlorinator might be plugged. i turned the motor off during the winter and the shaft inside rusted too. but i changed that all out and thought it would all just start right back up like it was…
It’s possible that the chlorinator is clogged. Try mixing some warm water and a cup of baking soda. Pour the solution into the chlorinator when the pump is off. Let it sit in there for 10-15 minutes and then turn the system back on. That should free up any clog that was in the chlorinator.
Well that wasnt it, pulled the line on the outgoing side of the inline chlorinator and it was flowing good when i turned the pump on. i am going to try and vacuum the pool tomorrow but i dont think i will have enough suction to do it. Before i do that I will pull the pump away from the housing tomorrow and see if i have something impeding it unless you have more suggesstions. This is perplexing me.
I would replace your pressure gauge so we have a better understanding of what is happening. If the gauge is reading low, there is a clogged line or an air leak. If the pressure is high, there is an issue with the filter. The media may need to be changed.

I found the issue with the low psi, when I pulled the motor/pump unit out of the pump cavity, apprantely there was debris under the filter basket and it sucked into the center of the impeller blocking it from the very start when i got it all back together to begin wiith… Because i never had psi to start with i automatically thought maybe i had installed the wrong impeller on it or something. I have good psi now some where around 25 and all is well (right now) at my house. Thanks for the tips it helped me think through the problem better.
