Pureline Salt Generator System

I ordered a Pureline Salt Generator through Amazon and received shipment from your company.  So far, I’ve gotten great on-line support for installing the system, which I did with little fuss.  The system went into operation yesterday, Apr 23, after getting the pool chemistry corrected.  When I first started it up, I cycled through the displays and everything seemed in order.  Today, I was cycling through the displays and actually got three additional displays:

Display 8 = F-15

Display 9 = E000

Display 10 = - - EE

next press took me back to main display.

Can you tell me about these additional displays please?

Thanks!  Paul

Hello Paul - Display 8 is the cell type. F-15 stands for the 40k salt cell. I’m not 100% sure on the last two displays. I’ve only seen those numbers when we’ve recalibrated the salt system.

Let us know if the system is having any issues producing chlorine and we’ll look into it more.

Sorry for the extra post.  I’m just learning how to navigate your site.  Thanks for your answer.  I am still getting the two extra displays.  One other thing I’ve noticed is that after the system has been running for a couple of hours, a couple of the readings seem way off.  Display 4 reads 0.00 and display 6 reads 0000.  If I turn the thing off and then back on, the readings go back to within range, but then after a couple of hours, the readings are messed up again.

I’ve been testing the chlorine daily, and it seems to be OK.  I haven’t had to add any salt since I started the system a week ago.  This seems strange to me, but the readouts are showing the salt level to be in range and the chemical testing shows the chlorine to be OK or slightly on the high side.  The water has no chlorine smell and is crystal clear.  Any more thoughts? I will be soon going on an extended vacation, and I need to have the thing working properly, which it may be doing.  I appreciate your assistance.

Hi Rob,

I continue to have difficulties with the Pureline salt converter system readout. Because of that, I am having difficulties trusting it. I wanted to upload a couple of videos, but I guess they are too large. So, here is the data: About an hour after the system was first turned on, all readings except the final two, which are not supposed to be there, seemed normal. They were: 3600; 80; 24.2; 4.87; 34P; 3600; At - 5; r 611; F-15; E000; - - EE. I checked again an hour after the first and you can see that some of the readings are messed up. In particular the voltage, amps and salt level. Readings were: 3600; 82; 28.0; - 0.00; 34P; 0000; At - 5; r 611; F-15; E000; - - EE.

The chlorine level in the pool seems to be OK, but I have not added any salt since I started up the system a week ago, and the salt level seems to be increasing! Yesterday it was 3400 and today it was 3600 when I shot the videos. I don’t have salt testing capability yet.

I need to be able to trust the system because I am away from home a lot. Let me know what you think. If you think all is well and it will adjust over time, then fine, but if there is a chance that the system is not working properly, I want to get it taken care of soon.

I look forward to hearing from you. I’ve attached a photo of the installed system.

Paul

The salt fluctuation seems minor. The salt systems are known for not giving the most accurate readings. However, we have contacted the Crystal Pure tech support regarding your concerns. We’ll let you know as soon as we get a response.

This is the response I received from the Crystal Pure rep.

From what I see, the system is running fine. He is running at 34% so the system will only produce 34% of the time the pump is running which isn’t a lot. When the system isn’t producing or is in “self-cleaning mode” he will see no amps and -0000. As for the variation between 3400 and 3600, that is a calculation of the salt level during a certain period of time so it will change slightly. The system will be plus/minus 500 ppm.

Rob, can you have him test the actual salt level and CYA and let us know what that is?

I’ll have the salt level tested this afternoon by the local Pinch a Penny pool store, and let you know.  I just checked the salt level readings about 15 minutes ago, and it continues to rise even though I haven’t added any salt since I turned the thing on.  The “home” reading is 3800 while the “instant” reading is now 4100.  We’ve had strong winds off the ocean for the past two days.  Maybe the wind is salting the pool?

I’ll let you know as soon as I get the “actual” salt reading.

Hi, please see the attached, which is the chemical analysis from the pool store. I have written on there what my display shows and what the instant salinity reading shows. There seems to be quite a discrepancy. The pool store reported the salt concentration at 3450 while the readouts are 3800 and 4100. Please let me know what I should do, if anything.

Thanks for all of your assistance so far!!

Hi,  I would very much appreciate a response to my last input about the salinity displays.  I am thinking that I may need a new unit.  Let me know.  Thanks

Everything looks normal. The system is working based on the free chlorine readings. Again, it is normal for salt systems to not have accurate salt readings. The display salt reading is within 500 ppm. That is within the acceptable variance.

We’ve spoken to the manufacturer and shared your test results. They do not see anything wrong with the system.

Thank you.
