Recommend replacement pump + motor

My son would like to have a more efficient pool pump to replace his aging one. Currently he has a AO Smith USQ 1102 motor with a Dayton 4RJ94 pump. What recommendations would you give?

The most energy-efficient motor option would be model ECM16SQU. That is a 1.65HP variable speed motor.
